I am Claire Stockill. I have been a freelance commercial lawyer since 2026, after nearly 10 years working in boutique law firms, multinational law firms and businesses as an in-house lawyer.

I set up as a freelance lawyer using my brand Ciel Legal because I want to do things differently: no suits, no jargon, no hourly rates. Clear and simple legal advice and business consultancy only. I'll always agree fees with you in advance so there'll be no surprises there.

I specialise in contracts, data protection and intellectual property. Having set up two businesses myself, I also provide business consultancy, mainly to small businesses and start-ups, to help you push your business forwards.

Contracts: writing, reviewing and advising on any of your business contracts. Advising on when you may need a contract, for example to sell your goods or services, to buy in any goods or services from a supplier, terms of use for your websites.

Data protection: advising you on the current regulatory landscape and how your business handles personal information. Helping you prepare any data protection documents you may need, such as privacy notices and data protection policies for how you use personal information in your business.

Intellectual property: I can answer any questions you might have about your business' logos or other intellectual property and how to protect or use them.

Template packages: I provide packages of templates including terms and conditions of sale, website terms and privacy notices. Please ask me about my template packages and how they can help your business.
